The leaves are boiled first so it is easier to wrap them. Then you put the mixture of meat, rice, grated carrot, spices and a little bit of oil onto the leaves and wrap them. Wrapped leaves(sarmas) are then lined up close to each other in a pot, a little water is poured in and they are cooked on low heat. At the end, melt 1 tablespoon of butter, pour over the sarma and let it just start boiling a little bit. When eating, whoever likes it can sprinkle creme fraiche on top.
